About Chris

Hi, I'm Chris and I am a Financial Adviser, but more importantly, I am a people person.

While I am originally from Scotland my parents decided to move halfway across the world when I was young and I grew up in Auckland. It was there that I met my wife and had our first son. My wife, who is from Feilding, had a strong desire to escape the big city and move home after our son was born and while I was not quite as convinced at the idea, we did what any good marriage does, we compromised... and moved to Feilding. Looking back now, it is a decision I wouldn't change for the world, and we are very happily raising our two boys here. I think it is easy to get lost in jargon and numbers but believe financial planning should be much more than that. It should be about understanding what you want your life to look like, and making sure your money is helping you get there.

I am passionate about people, relationships and helping others achieve the things that are important to them. I really enjoy getting to know my clients, understanding what makes them tick and building relationships that go beyond simply talking about money. For me, the most rewarding part is helping someone turn what can sometimes feel like a complicated financial situation into a clear plan that gives them confidence about their future. Outside of work, my biggest passion is my family and donating golf balls to the local courses. We take any opportunity to get away for the weekend, with Taupō being a favorite and frequented spot. Being a dad has given me an even greater appreciation for the importance of time, family, and experiences and it is something I try to carry into the way I approach both life and financial planning.

My Three Golden Rules

  1. Play the long game. Good things take time and consistency beats perfection.
  2. Start where you are, use what you have and keep moving forward.
  3. Keep. It. Simple.

Neither Lifetime nor I have been subject to a reliability event. A reliability event is something that might influence you in deciding whether to seek advice from either myself or Lifetime. As an example, this would be a serious event such as legal proceedings against me, or bankruptcy in the last four years.
