I have chosen a career I love, which means I will never work a day in my life!
Most I do is with or for my family – I was born in Denmark, moved to New Zealand in 1998 with my Danish husband and our 2 sons, aged 2 and 4 at the time.
I am a keen cyclist; food making, and writing are my creative outlets and I read/study a lot.
John and I love travelling and have sold everything we own 3 times to travel the world (before and with children), the last time led us to New Zealand and we had found our forever home! With ageing parents in Denmark, most of our travels take us there these days with some days in Singapore (our 2nd most favourite place in the world).
I have 25 years’ experience within the Financial Industry - corporate and SMEs as both self-employed and employed.
A positive and philosophical attitude, towards life and what it has to offer, is very important, so why accept a glass half empty, when we can have one half full :)
I'm passionate about helping my clients get their financial house in order and I love my role as a Life Planner / Financial Coach. I help clients assess their full financial picture, set short and long-term goals and then make a plan for how to get there. I always compare it to travel, as if you want a travel experience and head out into the world without a plan, you will have good or bad experiences based around luck and reactiveness.
However, if you plan your travel, for example visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris, you wouldn't just jump on any plane/ferry and hope to arrive. You would proactively work with your travel agent and together plan which time of year you wish to visit Paris, how long time to spend there, where you wish to stay and how to get there based around your timeline and budget. Planning your travel ensures you get the experience you want, and Life Planning works the exact same way. I am passionate about being the 'travel agent' for my clients, coaching them on the road to financial freedom i.e. help them get finance for their first home/investment property, set up for their retirement later in life and even while they enjoy the fruit of their labour in retirement.
My Three Golden Rules
- Aim to strike a balance between living now while also planning for the future.
- Financial success is not an event in itself, it is a process of goal setting and planning.
- Don’t be pushed by your problems, be led by your dreams.
