Kay has a passion for helping South Canterbury families with insurance options having forged many links in the province she has been born and bred in. She has always related well to people, including the wide array of clients she covers from Oamaru to Ashburton. Kay enjoys working for herself and interacting with her customers both on a social level and in giving advice on their insurance needs. She understands the need for considered advice to help people make choices within specialty insurance areas including trauma, total and permanent disablement and health insurance. She also advises on life insurance and income and mortgage protection. Kay regularly works with a wide range of insurance providers and has an in depth knowledge of what types of cover suit different clients. Kay started in the industry as an administrator which gave her the background to build up her understanding of the technical side of insurance policies. Since switching to an adviser role she has continued to upskill in terms of gaining industry qualifications and keeping in touch with the latest sector developments.
Kay likes to invest time not only in assisting clients but making sure her existing customers get the very best advice given that they often “don’t know what they don’t know” about insurance. She has built up a depth of knowledge of the issues Kiwis facing trauma and total & permanent disablement have. She knows while those insured have some peace of mind, they are not always in the best frame of mind to deal with their change in circumstances. Trauma cover often relates to those impaired by strokes, heart issues or the onset of cancer, and helps the insured get a lump sum payout when they need it most. Kay likes letting them know they don’t have to rush back to work, and advises clients on how best get by financially while they’re undertaking treatments but also sometimes to pamper themselves. Longer term some of those people may also be covered by income protection so if they have a longer road to recovery they can spend time away from work without losing out. She understands the nuances of insurance policies so she can talk through those wanting such protection what best suits their needs. She also enjoys interacting with the other Timaru Lifetime specialist advisers and making clients aware of the types of insurance cover and financial advice available.
Outside of work Kay and her husband Murray enjoy spending time with family and friends, including much valued time alongside their grandchildren. The pair enjoyed a stint working in hospitality. Kay also enjoys keeping fit with walks and keeping long-lasting friendships alive. She was brought up in Rosewill near Pleasant Point, west of Timaru and knows a lot of people in the region.
Kay has an ongoing working relationship with the Gift of Knowledge, a charity that undertakes ongoing support for those with and at risk of hereditary cancer plus their loved ones. Lifetime has a sponsorship role with the charity.
I can honestly say that no-one has ever been able to explain the concepts of insurance policies to me as well as Kay. Because of this, I asked her to look after another Sovereign life policy that I had opened in the 1980’s.
When requested, Kay has always communicated in a timely manner, and she actively followed up for any updates required.
If any of my friends or family ask me to recommend an Insurance Advisor, I would not hesitate to recommend Kay Davies.
Earlier this year we found ourselves in a predicament when my husband had an accordant and was put onto ACC. We are a one income family and this put us under an enormous amount of stress. Thankfully we had taken out mortgage protection insurance through Sovereign, when we brought our house. We made a call Kay Davies our insurance broker at Lifetime, who put the wheels into motion to make a claim. Through Kay and Clare Lonergan our appointed Case Manager from Sovereign work, the stress was lifted off our shoulders. The professionalism in which our case as dealt with, the outstanding communication that was reassuring and kept us informed every step of the way and the swiftness in which our case was dealt with really impressed us. We couldn’t speak more highly of Kay at Lifetime and of Clare at Sovereign who shone a light and giddied us through the dark time. They made the whole process so easy and stress free which left us free to concentrate on my husband’s recovery. We felt they went above and beyond and would highly recommend them to everybody. We have been shown that when the unexpected happens, we can be reassured that Sovereign will do the upmost to get the best possible outcome. Our Sincerest thanks goes to Kay at Lifetime and to Sovereign
